In addition to a bunch of fun and *free* neighborhood events, lake clean-ups, tree treks, and blood drives, did you know that the District 10 Como Community Council also organizes the popular Know Your Como series? (Just make sure you have a good chunk of free time before you click on that link, because you can really get lost in those stories.) A donation today means supporting the quirky, celebratory, and informative articles that we share about our neighbors each week. And if you’ve already donated during our Como Springsgiving drive: from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
The Como Community Council is the only neighborhood organization dedicated to connecting neighbors and improving life in Como Park, a place near and dear to all of our hearts. As Como neighbor Dawn Lamm puts it:
“I can think of nowhere else in the core cities where I can see swans gliding on our neighborhood lake and hear coyotes, wolves (at the zoo), and fox singing in the evening. There’s also a spirit of fun and sharing here too, where neighbors volunteer to pull leaves out of their gutters to mitigate pollutants in the lake, plant community pollinator gardens, envision a place where everyone can find a home from the most vulnerable to the most established, a neighborhood that celebrates everyone and redresses historical inequity. We look after the neighbor kids, pets and wildlife and those aging in place. Como is home.”
This is the Como we love, and this is the neighborhood and spirit of belonging that the Como Community Council actively cultivates. We so appreciate your consideration of a gift today.
