Upcoming D10 Events
In addition to our regular board and committee meetings, D10 Como Community Council hosts a number of community events every year. These events always have opportunities to volunteer, if you’re interested in getting involved you can fill out a Volunteer Interest Form or reach out to us at district10@district10comopark.org.
The Como Community Council, in partnership with the Capital Region Watershed District, plans multiple Lake Como cleanup events each year. Volunteers gather with others in the community to clean trash from the lake surface or shoreline. We’ll meet near the dock on the lower level lake side of the Pavilion to pick up tools, supplies, and have a refreshment.

The D10 Environment Committee hosts Tree Treks where community members can learn how to identify and appreciate the multitude of different tree species living in Como Park. This walking tour will be led by Minnesota Master Naturalist Stephanie Mirocha. She will provide fascinating facts, uses, and histories of many of the diverse tree species in the park.

The Como Community Council will be hosting the 3rd annual Como Homo Pride event.

We’re excited to once again host our annual Ice Cream Social event at the Historic Streetcar Station on Friday, July 14, from 5:30 to 8pm. Join us for free Ice Cream, live music, meet-and-greets with neighborhood organizations, fun family activities, and more!

D10 Como Park is partnering with the American Red Cross and the Como Zoo & Conservatory to host a series of community blood drives at the Zoo. Reservations are required to donate (may not be available until date gets closer).
With so many still working from home, workplace blood drives have all but vanished, affecting the Red Cross’ reserve levels. Community blood drives are the perfect opportunity to take a break from the home office or start a trip to the zoo!
The city partners with local district councils to organize annual citywide drop-off events for residents to properly dispose of large refuse items and recyclable materials not collected via the residential recycling program. District 10 helps coordinate the event held annually at the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. Time to get out your pumpkins, skeletons and ghosts for the D10 Halloween Decor Competition! Each year we challenge our community to go all out and register their house or apartment building to be included in the Halloween Decor map.

Como Community Council is again teamed up with the Capitol Region Watershed District for the Como Curb Cleanup. When it rains, leaves on streets release nutrients into the water that flows into storm drains and the lake. There it becomes food for invasive algae. Join 100+ neighbors in sweeping your curb once a week this fall to help keep Lake Como clean with this surprisingly effective effort.

Join Parks and Rec and the Como Community Council for a Pancake Breakfast (from Bethel Lutheran) and Winter Activities at North Dale Recreation Center. Try snowshoeing, cross country skiing and skating before you warm up with a bonfire and s’mores. After all the fun activities, head inside for a pancake breakfast, neighborhood resources, a Como History Photo Harvest, kids activities and much more!

The District 10 Como Community Council annual meeting and board election takes place every April at our regular board meeting time (3rd Tuesday at 7:15pm). Voting in the election occurs in the weeks leading up to the meeting by either electronic or mail-in ballot. You can find details on applying for the board and requesting ballots on our election page.
D10 Como Park co-hosts the Como Park portion of the city’s Regional Parks Clean-up Day. Individuals and groups of all ages come together to pick up litter that has recently become exposed due to the melting snow. Participating is easy! Register online, then drop by the pavilion to check in and pick up bags and gloves.

The Como Community Council will be hosting a Pick Up & Party event at Orchard Rec Center (875 W Orchard Ave). Whether you come with your neighbors or come to meet your neighbors, we would love to see you there! We’ll kick off the event with a neighborhood pick up and then meet up at Orchard Rec Center for a FREE Community Meal, bird-house building, bookmobile, ice cream truck, community organization fair, and much more!

D10 Como Community Council is once again coordinating a community sale weekend from Thursday, May 18 to Sunday the 21, 2023. If you would like to be included in our map, please fill out the Como Community Sale Form with your information before May 11.
Have you ever wondered about the history of your home? The Como Neighborhood History Project will be holding a “HOUSE HISTORY” training from 10:00–11:00am Saturday, December 3, 2022 in person at the Street Car Station. Please join us to learn some tips and techniques on doing your own research into the place that you live!
Treats will be provided from Abogados Café’.
Help us fill Como with holiday cheer! D10 Como Community Council is compiling a map of as many festive displays in the neighborhood as possible. So get those lights and inflatables out of the closet (or get some new ones!) and get to work decorating your house, apartment, or business to be included in our map!
Register your decorations to be put on the map as soon as they’re ready, you can also share your favorite photos of your décor with district10@district10comopark.org to have them featured on our website.
