February 16, 2012

The meeting was called to order at 6pm.

Minutes from the January 2012 meeting were unanimously approved.

The committee reviewed and approved the revised Committee Charter and will present for approval at the February board meeting.

The committee developed a first draft of a 2012-2013 work plan, which will be finalized at the March committee meeting. Initial elements of the work plan are:
• Lead District 10 involvement in Staycation (July 19-22, 2012)
o Partner with Environment Committee on Garden Tour
o Lead District 10 “table” presence at appropriate times/places
o Lead promotion of event
o Develop and sell advertising space in Event Program
• Sustain and improve District 10 Block Club program
o Hold quarterly staff-lead meetings with Block Club leaders
o Maintain Google Group for Block Club leaders
o Develop plan to recruit additional Block Club leaders
o Develop plan to engage Block Club leaders in “Welcome Wagon” program
o Support National Night Out Event
• Fully assess feasibility and structure of a Como Park Business Alliance
o Create list of businesses, non-profits, and government entities with presence in Como Park
o Reach out to other business associations to better understand function, responsibilities, features offered, and other elements
o Conduct needs assessment of businesses in Como Park
• Conduct Resident Needs Assessment
o Develop and administer cost-effective survey instrument to assess District 10 resident needs across areas of interest to District 10, in partnership with other committees
• Recruit additional committee members
o Develop creative strategy to recruit additional community members as committee members
• Focus on additional safety concern
o Using the Resident Needs Assessment, identify one major safety priority for focused attention in 2012-2013 (i.e. crosswalk safety, sidewalk snow removal, personal safety, etc)

The committee agreed that Laurie Erickson and Jessie Bronk would serve as liaisons to the broader Staycation Committee.

There were no safety updates.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm.
