Cleaning the boulevards
THANK YOU Como neighbors for participating in the Como Lake Curbside Cleanup on Saturday, April 17th!

All told, Como neighbors*  filled 150 bags of organic debris that they raked and swept from the boulevards and curbsides in front of their homes, preventing it from washing down storm drains and into Como Lake.  Freshwater Society says 5 bags of organic debris can contain as much as 1 pound of phosphorous,

and one pound of phosphorous can feed as much as 1,000 pounds of algae!  So 150 bags = 30 pounds of P = 30,000 pounds of algae prevented!!  Together, we CAN make a difference for Como Lake!!

The Como Lake Curbside Cleanup was organized by the Como Lake Neighbor Network (CLNN).  Partners included District 10 Environmental Committee, Capitol Region Watershed District, City of St. Paul Public Works, and Freshwater
