Como History
The Como Park You Never Knew
What do a prison workhouse, Cozy Lake, the St. Paul City Railway, a buffalo park, the Sons of Norway, hotel fires, dogsled races, a gravel pit, a poem as lovely as a tree, the Oliver Crosby Stonebridge mansion, and Hamm’s beer have in common? They’re all part of the history of Como Park.
District 10 residents have preserved stories long forgotten and the stories behind the park’s most treasured landmarks. You can download a Como Park historical walking tour, a tour map, an audio file, and the newest addition: Timothy Gadban’s history of the park, which attracted 150 people as part of District 10’s Sunday Series.
District Council Board Urged to Approve Variance Requests

District 10’s Land Use Committee’s voted this week to encourage the city to approve density and parking variances so developers can convert the former Sholom Home property into rental apartments. The full Como Community Council board will vote Feb. 18 on whether to adopt the committee’s recommendation.

District 10 Como Community Council

District 10 is one of Saint Paul's 17 citizen participation districts. We represent the Como Park neighborhood, bounded generally by Snelling to the west, Larpenteur to the north, Dale to the east, and the rail lines south of Energy Park Drive to the south. The District 10 Como Community Council is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors elected by members of the community. The Council's mission, described in its by-laws, is to provide information, education and outreach to the community.
