District 10 Land Use Committee Work Plan

Goals and Activities for 2014

 

The District 10 Land Use Committee has adopted the following goals & objectives for 2014 along with a number of specific activities that it believes will support these goals.  This work plan expresses the Committee’s commitment to the adopted goals, but the Committee may substitute other activities if the changes are judged to promote the Committee’s goals and objectives or if the activities are no longer deemed be appropriate.

 Goal 1: Communicate with the public concerning land use issues that affect District 10 residents.

 Goal 2: Provide a forum for District 10 residents to express their voice on land use decisions that impact them.

Goal 3: Conserve and strengthen District 10 neighborhoods so that their stability, safety, property values, tax base, and attractiveness remain the showcase of Saint Paul.

     Objective 1:  Work with the Saint Paul Planning Commission & the District 10 Planning Ad Hoc Committee to update the District 10 Land Use Plan so as to conserve and strengthen the neighborhood, thereby enhancing its attractiveness, stability, safety, property values, and tax base.

    Objective 2: Monitor the redevelopment of the Sholom Home site.

     Objective 3: Monitor and actively address development proposals in the Lexington/Larpenteur area taking into the consideration the findings of the Node Study ad hoc committee report and the District 10 Land Use Plan.

     Objective 4: Address public transit, traffic control, parking and signage issues as they emerge.

      Objective 5: Work to build a relationship & improve communication with State Fair management.

      Objective 6: Monitor & actively address development proposals in the Como/Snelling commercial area.

      Objective 7: Work with neighboring district councils to address shared concerns.

      Objective 8:  Work with Parks & Rec on the restaurant changeover at the Lakeside Pavillion.
